Acceptable Use Policy
FLO is built for genuine business communication. This policy exists to make sure it stays that way — for your customers, your contacts, and everyone else on the platforms FLO connects to.
Last updated: 22 February 2025.
The spirit of this policy
Use FLO the way you'd want someone to use it if they were messaging your customers. That one sentence covers most of it. The rest of this document fills in the specifics.
1. Prohibited Activities
The following uses are not permitted on the FLO platform under any circumstances:
Messaging & Communication
- Sending spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or any communication the recipient has not consented to receive
- Violating WhatsApp/Meta WABA policies, including sending messages to numbers not opted in to your communications
- Using FLO to circumvent any messaging platform's rate limits, anti-spam measures, or account restrictions
- Sending messages that mislead recipients about the identity of the sender
Content
- Publishing, distributing, or promoting illegal, harmful, hateful, or discriminatory content
- Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of any individual or group
- Content that exploits, deceives, or harms vulnerable individuals
- Phishing campaigns, impersonation of brands or individuals, or deceptive marketing
- Distribution of malware, spyware, or any malicious code
Data & Privacy
- Collecting personal data without proper legal basis and informed consent
- Sharing, selling, or transferring personal data in ways that violate applicable privacy laws
- Storing or processing sensitive personal data (health, financial, biometric) without appropriate safeguards
Platform Integrity
- Attempting to access, modify, or interfere with other users' accounts or data
- Reverse engineering, scraping, or extracting platform data in unauthorised ways
- Using FLO to facilitate activities that violate applicable laws in your jurisdiction or ours
2. Your Compliance Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of FLO complies with:
- Applicable laws in your jurisdiction (including TRAI regulations, DPDP Act, and any sector-specific rules)
- WhatsApp/Meta's Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy
- Email marketing regulations applicable to your audience
- GDPR or equivalent privacy regulations if you communicate with contacts in relevant jurisdictions
If you're unsure whether a specific use case is permitted, ask us before you do it — that's faster for everyone than dealing with the consequences after.
3. AI Usage
If you use AI features in FLO (including BYOK with your own API key), you remain responsible for all AI-generated content before it is sent or published. Review everything before it goes live. AI can be wrong, off-brand, or occasionally surprising — your team is the last line of quality control.
4. Enforcement
If we identify a violation of this policy — or receive a credible report of one — we may:
- Issue a warning and request immediate remediation
- Temporarily suspend specific features or your account
- Permanently terminate access where the violation is serious or repeated
- Report to relevant authorities where legally required
We'll always try to communicate clearly about what happened and why. We're not looking for reasons to remove customers — we're looking to keep the platform healthy for everyone.
